Cancellation of the 5th Andros Trail Race

The organisation sadly has to cancel the 5th Andros Trail Race.
The reasons behind this decision, especially one month after the opening of the registrations, are a lot.

One of the consequences of the pandemic is the financial crisis, which already affects Greece and as a result all races. We knew from the beginning that it would be difficult to maintain the high quality of the 5th Andros Trail Race at the end of September 2021 with possibly less inscriptions and resources. As a result of this crisis and with a good reason some of the sponsors didn't support us this year as much as they used to.

                                 

Meanwhile, the Covid-19 cases are increasing throughout Greece, especially during August. We believe that the safety of public health and the society is more important. Under no circumstances do we want a sports event that promotes happiness, health and life, to have negative effects.

Finally, according to the new Health Protocol by GGA announced on the 13th August, the race wouldn't have the spirit and its character.

Andros Trail Race is above all a social and cultural event and can not be sterilised. The contact with the volunteers, hugging and cheering specially at the start, the applause, and the interaction between the locals and the athletes are some of the aspects that made the race so popular and without these, it won't be the same.

With everything in mind and after a lot of thought, the Organisation decided to cancel the race.

We are hoping to overcome this health crisis soon and meet again at our favourite race.

For the athletes that have already paid, we will return the money within 15 days after the announcement of the cancellation of the 5th Andros Trail Race.
